What should I be doing for my skin in the winter?

Scottsdale Chemical Peel

Do you find yourself putting on more moisturizer in the winter time? Over time your skin builds up dead cellular layers which typically consist of clogged pores that obstruct the development and appearance of healthy beautiful skin, while leaving your skin feeling rough and dry. We try to eliminate this appearance by applying more and more moisturizer to our face; this is especially noticeable during the dry winter spell.

The best way to eliminate this problem is a Chemical Peel. The process of a chemical peel starts by first, removing the dead cellular layers with dermaplaning a technique that goes back 30 years in skin care techniques. You will notice a change in your skin texture immediately after this is performed. Next, an alpha hydroxyl acid solution is applied to the skin. After the desired level of exfoliation is reached the solution is neutralized. Last the peel goes through a freezing process called, Cryogenic Therapy. Carbon dioxide is applied to the face; this process immediately relieves any inflammation and cools the skin.

Risks and Recovery from Chemical Peels

There is usually no down time associated with a Chemical Peel. However, depending on the customization of your peel you may experience minor peeling in the days following the procedure. Additionally, there is a post care treatment for the first 48 to 72 hours that will help improve your results. You would cleanse, tone and moisturize your skin as you would in your daily facial cleansing routine, while adding a correcting smoothing cream and a protectant ointment with an SPF of at least 30. Keeping your skin out of direct sunlight is also crucial to healing process, as well as something we should always be aware of. Direct sunlight can affect the health and appearance of our skin for years to come.

So during this dry winter spell, try treating yourself to a chemical peel. It’s a great way to keep your skin glowing all year long.
