Personalized breast enhancement
Choosing breast implants involves much more than selecting a cup size. Breast width, existing tissue, skin elasticity, implant profile, and your personal aesthetic preferences all influence your surgical plan.
Motiva breast implants are silicone gel-filled implants developed with specialized gel and shell technologies. In the United States, FDA-approved Motiva SmoothSilk Round and SmoothSilk Ergonomix options offer different characteristics for patients considering breast augmentation.
At Dr. Shaun Parson Plastic Surgery & Skin Center in Scottsdale, the goal is to help you understand your options and develop an individualized approach to breast enhancement.
Compare implant styles
Both implant types are designed for breast augmentation, but their gel characteristics and intended aesthetic profiles differ. Your surgeon can explain which may be suitable for your anatomy.
Ergonomix is designed to mimic aspects of natural breast tissue movement, with a gel that responds to changes in body position. It may appeal to patients seeking softer, natural-looking contours.
Round implants are designed to provide a fuller, rounder upper-breast profile. They may appeal to patients who want more noticeable upper-pole fullness.
Illustrations are for educational purposes and do not predict an individual surgical result. Motiva Ergonomix2 is a different product and is not currently available in the United States.
Shape and proportion
Projection describes how far an implant extends forward from the chest wall. Implant width and projection work together to influence the final breast contour. The Mini, Demi, and Full options shown below illustrate different fullness profiles; availability depends on the specific implant model and size.
Implant design
Motiva implants incorporate several proprietary design features, including a SmoothSilk surface, ProgressiveGel silicone technology, and BluSeal barrier-layer indicator. Certain models also offer electronic implant identification technology.
These features are intended to support implant design and traceability, but no implant is risk-free or guaranteed to produce a particular outcome. During your consultation, you can discuss the differences between Motiva and other available implant brands.
Your surgeon
Dr. Shaun Parson is a board-certified plastic surgeon serving Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix area. A personalized consultation considers your chest anatomy, desired fullness, medical history, and whether augmentation alone or a breast lift may better address your goals.
Implant size, profile, incision location, and placement are individualized rather than chosen from a one-size-fits-all plan.

Patients considering breast volume enhancement, improved proportions, or restoration of fullness after pregnancy or weight changes may be candidates. Silicone breast implants for cosmetic augmentation are approved for eligible patients age 22 and older. A consultation is required to assess candidacy.
Informed decisions
All breast implants carry risks, including infection, pain, capsular contracture, implant rupture, changes in sensation, and possible additional surgery. Rare but serious implant-associated conditions have also been reported, including BIA-ALCL and other malignancies, as well as systemic symptoms sometimes called breast implant illness.
Breast implants are not lifetime devices. For silicone implants, the FDA recommends ultrasound or MRI screening beginning five to six years after placement and every two to three years thereafter, even if no symptoms are present. Discuss individualized monitoring and risks with your surgeon.
Frequently asked questions
Motiva SmoothSilk Round and SmoothSilk Ergonomix silicone implants have FDA approval for specified uses in the United States. Not every Motiva implant marketed internationally is approved in the U.S.
Ergonomix is designed to respond to body position with natural-looking movement; Round is designed for a fuller, rounder upper-breast profile. Your anatomy and goals determine which option may be appropriate.
They are designed with softness and aesthetic contour in mind, but the final look and feel depend on your existing tissue, implant dimensions, surgical technique, and healing.
Motiva has distinct design features, but no implant is free from risk, and one implant type cannot be considered the safest for every patient. Your surgeon can review the relevant safety data and alternatives.
Breast implants are not lifetime devices. Some patients require replacement or removal because of complications or changing preferences. Routine follow-up is important.
Implant exchange may be an option for some patients. Your existing implants, breast tissue, reasons for revision, and applicable product indications must be reviewed during consultation.
Cost depends on the surgical plan, implant choice, anesthesia, facility fees, and any additional procedures. Request a consultation for individualized pricing.
