Do You Need Two Surgeries for Breast Lift and Augmentation?

If you struggle with the appearance of your breasts, you may decide that multiple breast procedures (including breast lift and breast augmentation) need to be done to give you the look you desire. And since the plastic surgeon will be working on the breasts in both cases, you can get both procedures done at the same time, right? This would make sense, but it’s not always the case since one procedure may affect the results of the other. However, in most cases, your Scottsdale plastic surgeon can successfully perform both procedures at the same time. Let’s review a few important facts.

Two Separate Surgeries For Breast Lift and Augmentation?

Whether or not you will need one or two surgeries will depend on the results of your consultation. Your goals and body type will be the determining factors. In particular, thinner women often will not be able to get a large implant and lift at the same time.

If your plastic surgeon thinks that both the breast lift and breast augmentation can be done together, the breast augmentation should be done first. This is so there is enough skin to close the incisions snugly without being too tight. When lifts and augmentations are done that the same time, keep in mind that you might have to make some sacrifices in terms of breast implant size. You will likely have to go smaller than you desired because there is too much weight on the skin.

Another important fact to recognize that while an implant traditionally makes the breast larger, it can also be used to restore volume in deflated breasts. It is not necessary to make a woman’s breasts larger than they already are. In fact, in some circumstances, Dr. Shaun Parson can keep your cup size the same by removing some of your own breast tissue during the lift and replacing it with an implant.

Breast implants are a personal decision and it’s up to you to decide what size to get. When you have implants and a lift performed at the same time, simply recognize that there may be limitations. It’s better to get what you want and go into a surgery knowing what’s reasonable for you and your body type.
