Healing From Liposuction

Healing From Liposuction

Once your liposuction procedure is over, the recovery phase begins. This part of the surgery process is known as lipoplasty healing.

A compression garment is used to cover the treatment areas. These elastic bandages help to control swelling and compress the skin to your newly shaped body. Small temporary drainage tubes may also be inserted into existing incisions to allow excess blood or fluid to escape rather than collect.

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Shaun Parson will be sure to give you a list of instructions for your lipoplasty healing. Medication for pain will be prescribed to aid with discomfort. A follow-up visit is customary in the days that follow, but the procedure is typically of the outpatient variety, which means you are allowed to return home the day of the surgery.

Although successful results are expected, there is no guarantee. If you experience shortness of breath, chest pains, or unusual heartbeat, seek medical attention immediately. Following the doctor’s advice for lipoplasty healing is the best way to prevent any complications.
