Can I Get _____ with a Mommy Makeover?

You’ve heard about a mommy makeover, but do you know what it is? The mommy makeover is a very popular request at Dr. Shaun Parson Plastic Surgery & Skin Center, but it looks different for everyone. There are no set surgeries or non-surgical treatments that fall into the mommy makeover category because every “makeover” is unique to the patient. A mommy makeover is typically two or more surgeries, often coupled with non-surgical treatments, that post-partum women opt for in order to regain confidence and self-esteem. However, there are a lot of misnomers about mommy makeovers, and it’s time to tackle them.

The most common surgeries requested as part of a mommy makeover are breast augmentation, a tummy tuck, and liposuction. However, you don’t have to restrict yourself to just these three surgeries, nor do you have to get all of them! Some patients take the opportunity of surgery to also add on that facelift they’ve been wanting. Others want a tummy tuck without a breast augmentation. A mommy makeover is your chance to customize procedures to fit your needs and goals. And we’re always looking forward to talking to anyone about our services, so calling Dr. Parson to talk about what you have in mind is always welcomed.

What if I Want to Have More Biological Kids?

One of the biggest myths about a mommy makeover is that it’s just for moms—or that you need to be finished having biological kids to consider a mommy makeover. The truth is that many women who do not have children get the equivalent of a mommy makeover. Maybe they’ve lost a lot of weight, simply have genetics that lead to skin laxity (and in turn crepe-like skin on the belly and breasts), or have any other number of factors that make them a good candidate for common mommy makeover surgeries.

If you are a mom, maybe you’re thinking about holding off on a mommy makeover until you’re certain you’ve finished having biological children. That’s a good choice for some patients, but not all. The vast majority of women can still breastfeed just fine after breast augmentation (which includes the placement of implants for an enhanced shape). If you’re shying away from breast augmentation for this reason, it’s time to put your mind at rest. Dr. Parson can discuss more about breastfeeding with breast implants during your consultation.

Other patients worry that their stomach will be “too tight” if they get a tummy tuck now, which won’t allow for safe and proper stretching if they have a future pregnancy. That should not be a worry. A reputable surgeon will ensure a flat and taut tummy for women who are considering future pregnancies—while still allowing for natural stretching down the road. Of course, future pregnancies may call for an additional future tummy tuck. It’s impossible to predict how your body will respond to future pregnancies because every pregnancy is unique. For some patients, the idea of a future additional tummy tuck is no big deal. Others prefer to wait until they’re 100% sure they’ve finished having biological children to get a tummy tuck. That’s totally up to you, but either choice is medically just fine.

Is a Daddy Makeover a Thing?

A “daddy makeover” isn’t a household term, but why not make it one? Most men won’t be interested in breast augmentation, but the majority of other common surgeries and non-surgical treatments typical to a mommy makeover can certainly apply to dads and men. For instance, many men benefit from a tummy tuck, particularly if they have lost a lot of weight or have had severe weight fluctuations in their life. Liposuction virtually anywhere in the body can be suitable for anyone. And a facelift? That’s definitely a surgery men and women are both interested in.

Non-surgical treatments that complement a mommy makeover can include Botox, dermal fillers, chemical peels, microneedling, and much more. As you can imagine, these treatments are not gender-specific. No matter your gender or parental status, you deserve to look and feel your best. Why not take advantage of this unprecedented time that allows you to recover in comfort from your home without having to use your vacation days? If you’re working from home right now, there’s never been a better time to opt for cosmetic surgery.
