Ditch the Concealer with Eye Fillers

If you’ve ever transformed yourself into a zombie for a spooky event, you probably figured out that one makeup “must” is darkening the eye trough—and maybe you noticed that you needed less of that dark brown and blue shadow than you’d like! The scary truth is that we lose the “good fat” below the eyes as we get older, often in an uneven manner. The result is looking more tired and older than we are. Concealer can be helpful in disguising lost fat and highly visible dark circles for a little bit, but there will come a time when a more aggressive approach is needed. If you’re at that stage, Parson Skin Center is at your rescue with undereye fillers and expert injectors.

There are two reasons dark circles appear. The first is simply the visibility of blood vessels. Everyone is born with different amounts of fat below the eyes that can disguise and cover blood vessels for a while. The other reason is shadows. When fat distribution is (or becomes) uneven in the eye trough, shadows can appear that make dark circles appear worse. Eye fillers can help with both of these common situations, and also help you delay or avoid more serious strategies, like a lower eyelid lift.

How Fillers Work

There are dermal fillers for every part of the face, and many parts of the body! However, not all fillers are suited for underneath the eyes. Plus, the skill of the injectors is just as critical as making sure you get matched with the right dermal filler. At Parson Skin Center, we carry every safe, effective, and proven dermal filler including a number of solutions that are well-matched for treating the tear troughs. Plus, all injectables are only performed by RNs and doctors at Parson Skin Center! The vast majority of dermal fillers are made with hyaluronic acid (HA), and many include a numbing agent to make the injection as comfortable as possible.

Our bodies already produce HA, so it’s nearly impossible for the body to “reject” a dermal filler as a foreign object. However, we do produce less HA naturally as we get older and HA fillers are not permanent. They slowly dissolve after a few months (and if you decide to have them removed early, there are injections that can dissolve them). HA fillers are the most popular because they look and feel so natural. An HA filler can “fill in” that under-eye trough, covering up visible blood vessels and creating volume to minimize shadows. As an added bonus, more volume in this area can also smooth out lines and wrinkles.

Eye Fillers and Confidence

Most people start to notice the earliest signs of aging around the eyes. Skin is thin, delicate, and constantly moving here. But we’re not the only people to first notice lines, wrinkles, and circles in this area—others do, too! When we interact with other people, we pay the most attention to the eyes. This is the part of the face that gives us the most connection and communication. Unfortunately, your eyes might not be sending the message you’d like. Lack of volume in the tear troughs might be telling others that you’re fatigued even when you aren’t or declaring that you’re years older than you are.

Eye fillers are a fast easy way to turn back the clock and amp up confidence. HA fillers typically last anywhere from 3 – 12 months on average, and often don’t last as long as fillers in other parts of the face because the eye area is so mobile. Many clients consider their eye fillers a routine maintenance appointment every few months. Some clients who are considering more invasive procedures, like an eyelid lift, find that eye filler treatments are an excellent minimally invasive procedure that achieves their goals.

The eyes have it: they might be the windows to the soul, but you definitely have control over how these windows are framed. If you’ve noticed sagging, lines, crepe-like texture, and dark circles below the eyes, eye fillers might be the solution for you.
