Out-of-Town Patient Guide: Traveling to Scottsdale for Plastic Surgery
At Dr. Shaun Parson Plastic Surgery, we welcome patients traveling from across the United States and internationally to our Scottsdale, Arizona, surgical facility.
Planning plastic surgery away from home can feel overwhelming. This guide outlines the typical process, from your initial virtual consultation through surgery, recovery, and clearance to travel home.
Important: Every surgical plan is individualized. Required testing, arrival dates, length of stay, caregiver needs, and clearance to fly may vary based on your procedure, health history, and Dr. Parson’s recommendations.
The Fly-In Patient Journey: Step by Step
1. Virtual Consultation
Your journey begins with a comprehensive virtual consultation. During this appointment, you will discuss your aesthetic goals, review your medical history, and learn whether you may be a candidate for your desired procedure.
Before your appointment, you may be asked to submit clear, confidential photographs from specific angles so Dr. Parson can better evaluate the areas you would like to address.
2. Medical Clearance and Scheduling
Once you are approved to move forward, our patient coordinator will help you select a surgical date and provide the required preoperative instructions.
Medical clearance is generally completed with your primary care provider in your home city and may include blood work, an EKG, or other testing based on your age, health history, and procedure.
All required medical records and clearance documents should be submitted by the deadline provided by our surgical team.
3. Arrival in Scottsdale
Out-of-town patients should plan to arrive in the Scottsdale area before surgery for an in-person preoperative appointment. During this visit, Dr. Parson will perform a physical examination, confirm the surgical plan, review instructions, and answer final questions.
4. Surgery and Immediate Recovery
Your procedure will take place in our accredited surgical facility. You must have a responsible adult or approved professional caregiver available to drive you from the surgical center and remain with you during the initial recovery period.
Your caregiver may be a family member, friend, or professional recovery nurse, depending on your needs and the requirements of your procedure.
5. Postoperative Care and Clearance to Travel
You will need to remain in the Scottsdale or Phoenix area for follow-up appointments before returning home. Dr. Parson and the clinical team will monitor your early healing and determine when it is safe for you to travel. We recommend booking The Recovery Practice for additional care needs.
Typical Length of Stay in Scottsdale
The recommended length of stay depends on the procedure performed and how your recovery progresses. The following ranges are general planning estimates only:
