BOTOX® Cosmetic Scottsdale
As a person ages in life we progressively develop facial wrinkles. These wrinkles tend to occur in several very constant locations. These locations include: the lateral eyes, the upper nasal region, the forehead and the peri-oral region. Plastic surgeons have various weapons to help erase these wrinkles but one of the most common methods of combating these signs of aging is through the use of either Botox orDysport.
Both of these substances are proteins that are derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. The proteins can be further subdivided into Type A and Type B. Type A protein includes both Botox and Dysport.
The use of Botox and Dysport is nothing new. In fact, botulinum toxin has been used therapeutically used on facial muscle since the 1960’s. It was initially used for treatment of eyelid spasm and strabismus. However, it wasn’t until the 1980’s that it began being used for aesthetic purposes. It’s important to remember that these proteins are not “fillers”, but rather they act by paralyzing or weaking facial muscles. This in turn will cause wrinkles to disappear for a period of time.
Today Botox and Dysport are both used for the treatment of: unwanted facial wrinkles, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), and chronic migraines to name just a few.
