Want Your Figure Back? Liposuction with Abdominoplasty might be for you. Yeah!

Regardless of a woman’s shape, size, or fitness, there are very few women who do not have changes in their abdominal wall after child-bearing. Some women have drooping skin and others have abdomens that protrude as their abdominal walls have been stretched. Additionally, some have loose sagging abdominal skin, or in other cases a massive weight loss. Almost all have tried dieting and exercising and are discouraged by the lack of results. In fact, patients find that as they lose weight the skin becomes looser and looks even worse! And liposuction alone can’t fix stretched skin, nor does it repair the muscles.

Traditionally, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and liposuction have been separate procedures. Dr. Shaun Parson often performs these two procedures together as they work in unison to correct and restore the desired appearance. A mommy makeover is a combination of procedures that may include abdominoplasty, liposuction, and some kind of breast surgery rejuvenation such as breast augmentation.

A Joint Surgery: Tummy Tuck with Liposuction

Many surgeons prefer to liposuction the entire abdominal wall to reduce the fat thickness throughout, followed by repairing the muscles of the abdomen and tightened. Finally the excess skin is removed and re-contoured resulting in a flat, contouring stomach. It’s one surgery but given the goals of the patient, it makes sense to perform both liposuction and a tummy tuck at the same time in one procedure.

Liposuction / Tummy Tuck Recovery Process

Dr. Shaun Parson performs tummy tuck surgery under general anesthesia. Helping our patients manage a speedy recovery is one of our primary missions. The length of the recovery will depend on the amount of muscle repaired, and the physical condition of the patient. For a full abdominoplasty there can be a recovery period of 3 to 4 weeks, but can be longer — particularly if you have a strenuous job. This may seem like a long time, but the muscles repaired are used for everything we do. And the better the repair, the better the long-term result.
